Have you ever heard of the term, “Financial Roadmap?”
Let us say you and your family are travelling in another foreign land and you have only 3 nights and 4 days. You definitely want to maximize your time and visit as many places as you can. Imagine, travelling in a foreign land without a google map. Living without a financial roadmap is also unwise. We will just waste time, energy and money. How can you enjoy the scenery if you have no clue of the specific destinations and how to get there. Which will leave you tired and restless at the end of the day.
Going on a journey via trial and error is costly, exhausting, and even frustrating. We sure do not want that to happen with our finances. That is the reason why everyone needs a Financial Roadmap. While some people survive their financial journey without a roadmap, the result is typically costly and wasteful. Wise people see financial roadmaps as their guide to attaining their ensuing financial goal.
A financial roadmap is a tool that helps people achieve their financial goal, be it attaining more wealth, achieving financial stability or formulating the perfect retirement plan. This roadmap paves the way for people to easily manage their finances so that the goal becomes readily achievable. If you want to build a financial roadmap, allow me to share with you the 3 most important questions I ask my clients.
THE WHAT
The current financial status – are we still in debt? Are our paychecks providing enough for the determined recurring expenses? Are we consistently setting aside money for savings?
THE WHERE
The direction that we want to go – what do we want to financially achieve in the next 5, 10 years? Do we see ourselves investing in stocks or real estate? Will we be financially stable by age 35?
The sources of income – do you have regular paying job? Do you have other sidelines? Do you also have residual income from passive investments?
THE HOW
The tools we need to achieve our goals – do we need to learn more serious budgeting skills to take us to our desired financial status in the next few years? Do we need to up our saving skills? Do we need a financial planner or consultant to manage our finances?
Please take time to get a piece of paper and answer these following questions if you want to get started and make your own financial roadmap.
