Sixteen Philippine universities have been officially ranked on the 2023 Quacquarelli Symonds Asia University Rankings (QS AUR) for the region’s top universities, with 12 higher educational institutions (HEIs) joining the 4 QS-world-university-ranked University of the Philippines (UP), Ateneo De Manila University (ADMU), De La Salle University (DLSU), and the University of Santo Tomas (UST).
The 16 local HEIs are among the 760 Asian universities appearing on the ranking created with criteria similar to that used for the QS World University Rankings (QS WUR) but with additional indicators and adapted weightings designed to reflect key priorities for universities in Asia as assessed by regional experts and stakeholders.
The total number of Philippine universities in the 15th edition of the QS WUR: Asia released on November 8, 2022, is one more than the previous 15 in the 2022 edition of the annual QS AUR.
- UP maintains its position as the top HEI in the Philippines, ranking in Asia’s Top 100 at #87 (QS WUR #412)
- ADMU ranked 2nd at #134 (QS WUR #651-700)
- DLSU placed 3rd at #171 (QS WUR 801-1000)
- UST in 4th at #175 (QS WUR 801-1000)

The QS Asia University Rankings ranks university performance using 11 indicators: Academic reputation (30%), Employer reputation (20%), Faculty to Student ratio (10%), International research network (10%), Citations per paper (10%) and papers per faculty (5%), Staff with a doctorate degree (5%), Proportion of international faculty (2.5%) and proportion of international students (2.5%), Proportion of inbound exchange students (2.5%) and proportion of outbound exchange students (2.5%).
