Have you ever experienced the following?
Why is it so easy for some people to just give up and throw in the towel? Here are some reasons:
LACK OF PATIENCE
Nowadays, we are pampered with what is instant and what is fast. Emails, chats, texts, calls and even researching are all just one click away. We are not used to waiting for something anymore. We don’t know what it means to anticipate something anymore. Our patience meter is very low, and our understanding of others is almost inexistent. Remember that everything comes with a price. There is always something in exchange for what you want. If you want quality life, then you need to invest time and experience in it. You don’t get anything of worth overnight.
LACK OF PREPARATION AND PLANNING
I once read of a saying, “If you fail to plan, you plan to fail” which is quite true for me because I believe that once we have a goal, we should begin to think of the things that we need to prepare and do to achieve that it. In other words, you cannot go into battle without a strategy and a sword – the bigger the dream, the bigger the challenges, you don’t charge without a plan!
Planning includes learning the process, identifying your strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and alternatives just in case plan A doesn’t work.
LACK OF DETERMINATION
We give up because we don’t have the determination or inspiration to keep going despite the barriers.
When something is difficult, disheartening, and unbearable, give yourself a break, but don’t back out. Keep in mind that everything worth doing requires hard work that will reap success in the end. Just hang in there!
LACK OF FOCUS
There are two kinds of distraction.
One is what you call external distraction like facebook, instagram, email, or game apps. The other one is internal distraction, which can be found within ourselves like worry, fear, anxiety, or unbelief that become reasons for losing our focus,
Lack of focus can make us give up easily because we are not fully committed to your goal. Our attention is divided. If we want to get to where we plan to be, don’t allow distractions to control us —focus and concentrate on ONE thing alone.
LACK OF OWNERSHIP
“Well, that’s not my project anyway”
“Well, I’m not gonna be the one to answer for that.”
“What’s in it for me? Why should I put in more effort if I’m not going to gain anything from it?”
Our downfall is in not giving a task our best shot just because we don’t gain anything from it. We don’t own up to it, therefore we easily give up on it. This is wrong. We should learn how to stand up, own, take good care of what we currently have, and do whatever it takes to succeed whether it is our project or not. We may feel that it is not ours to own up to, but who knows it may be the key to the success you have been waiting so long for.
THINK. REFLECT. REPLY.
