Filipino-American Wesley So won both Titled Tuesday events, only the second player in the series history to achieve the feat in the weekly tournament hosted by Chess.com for titled players played every Tuesday.
The Philippines-born three-time United States Chess Champion joined fellow American team player Hikaru Nakamura in the elite list of winners who swept both events of the twice-a-week series since the games started a year ago.
Wesley So led the field of 538 players in the two 11-round Swiss tournaments played on February 7, 2023.
The first-ever Chess.com Global Champion defeated GM Frederico Perez Ponsa in the first tournament and GM Aram Hakobyan in the second tournament.
Wesley So played Titled Tuesday on the day he was also playing in the Airthings Masters event of the Champions Chess Tour, a year-long series of tournaments where he challenged and won events against World No. 1 Magnus Carlsen of Norway.
