The Asset Awards has cited Bank of the Philippines Islands (BPI) lead economist Emilio Neri Jr. among Asia’s top researchers.
The leading finance magazine in Asia named the BPI lead economist among the Best Local Currency Bond Individuals in Research for 2019.
BPI’s Emilio Neri Jr. was awarded during the annual Asian Local Currency Bond Benchmark Review.
Neri Jr. was ranked the top 1 among the country’s 5 best bank economists in the research category based on a survey of top investors in the region.

Neri bested 600 other nominees for the sell-side individuals who are active in Asian local currency bond markets in 2019. Sell-side refers to the creation, promotion, and sale of stocks, bonds, foreign exchange, and other financial instruments.
“For the past few years, we have been gaining considerable outcomes and ranking high, but this is the first time that we actually emerged as the number one in the top sell-side individual in research category as a Philippine bank.
“This achievement would not have been possible without the efforts of the entire research team and the initiatives of the other teams within the Bank. We are again humbled, honored, and grateful with the trust and the satisfaction of our clients,” said Neri in a BPI report received by Good News Pilipinas.

“We are committed to maintain this good standing, and that leaves us to work more responsibly to achieve the most favorable result and eventually the nod of our clients, investors and the entire nation,” Neri added.
The Asset determined the category winner after conducting a survey among more than 300 investors in the region to nominate the top sell-side individuals in research (analysts and economists/credit strategists), sales, and trading.
In the 2018 edition of The Asset Awards, BPI and Emilio Neri Jr. were recognized as the second best in the same category.
