You can now travel to Taiwan visa-free until July 31, 2020!
The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in the Philippines (TECO) announced on July 2 that Filipinos can travel to Taiwan visa-free for 14 days until July 31, 2020.
The 14-day visa-free entry program for Philippine passport holders was first implemented from November 2017 to July 2018. The trial period was extended to July 2019.
“This measure is being continued to attract visitors from New Southbound Policy partner countries for tourism and business purposes and to increase people-to-people exchanges,” according to the TECO release.
In 2017, nationals from New Southbound Policy partner countries, which include the Philippines, made a total of 2,284,382 visits to Taiwan. The number is a significant year-on-year increase according to the statistics of the Tourism Bureau.
Over 60 countries have allowed Philippine passport holders to enter their borders visa-free.
The visa-free privilege for Filipinos entering Taiwan was scheduled to expire at the end of July this year but was extended from August 1, 2019, to July 31, 2020.
