In the face of the COVID-19 outbreak, Filipino multinational company San Miguel Corporation (SMC) has stepped up safety measures for its employees.
As the Metro Manila quarantine takes effect on Sunday, March 15, 2020, it will be business-as-usual for SMC but with enhanced health safety protocols enforced even before the quarantine.
The conglomerate has implemented various work protocols in light of the spread of the Covid-19 virus. It has also taken extra steps to help ensure that employees and guests at its sprawling Ortigas complex and other major offices in Metro Manila are safe. Among these:
- installation of hand-washing stations at all entrances of its main offices
- Prior to entering SMC offices, people are asked to wash their hands, apply hand sanitizers, and undergo temperature checks
- All hand-wash units come complete with water, soap, and towels and are operated using foot pedals to avoid cross-contamination
SMC said it adopted and invested in the measure not just for safety but to inculcate in people’s minds the importance of hand-washing in curbing the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
San Miguel Corp had also mobilized resources for Taal Volcano relief efforts, supplied equipment and manpower for the Tullahan river project to boost Manila Bay rehab and solve Bulacan flooding, and hastened work at 24/7 pace to open Skyway Stage 3 by July.
