Rachelle Ann Go will star in a lead role on London’s West End staging of Tony Awards Best Musical and Pulitzer-prise winning musical, Hamilton.
Go plays the role of Eliza, wife of American Founding Father Alexander Hamilton whose life is depicted in the hip-hop sung-thru musical.
The Filipino singer-actress tweeted her thanks for getting the role with a picture of her with Hamilton creator, Lin-Manuel Miranda.
Broadway.com referred to Go as the U.K. favourite who will return to London after reprising her West End-winning role as Gigi on the Broadway revival of Miss Saigon.
In media interviews Go recounted how she braved the tough auditions despite being ill in front of Miranda, producers Cameron Mackintosh and Jeffrey Seller, and director Tommy Kail.
Hamilton is also casting another Filipino, Christine Allado who plays Peggy Schuyler and Maria Reynolds.
The hit musical previously cast Karla Garcia as its first Fil-Am performer.
Go will leave the Broadway New York staging of Miss Saigon in August to be part of Hamilton in London.
