The Philippine female lion dance team has won the 6th Annual MGM Lion Dance Championship in Macau.
The team won the championship in the female traditional lion dance category, beating seven other countries including teams from Macau, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and Indonesia.
Philippines finished 1 st with a score of 8.90. In second place is Macau with a score of 8.83, and third is Malaysia with 8.76.
"Ito and third time na sumali tayo. Nung 2014, nag-champion. Nung 2015, second place tapos ngayon, champion ulit," Philippine delegation coordinator Manuel Sy told GMA News Online.
MGM and Wushu General Association of Macau co-hosted the 6th annual MGM Lion Dance Championship this year. The competition reinvents the traditional lion dance into a modern sporting and entertainment event. International elite lion dance troupes from Macau and all over the world annually battle it out for the championship with their awe-inspiring moves and acrobatic stunts at Grande Praça.
The Philippines won for their feminine chivalry in the upgraded Female Traditional Lion Dance Championship with an international standard rating system.
