Pinoy junior netters dominated the 14th Asian Tennis Federation (ATF) 14 and Under Series 2019, sweeping 3 titles with the all-Pinoy team and picking up the 4th title in a team-up with a Malaysian player, at the tourney held in Sarawak, Malaysia on September 8.
The Unified Tennis Philippines (UTP) team of 5 young Filipino tennis champions all came home with a championship title in their respective divisions in competitions held at the Sarawak Lawn Tennis Association Tennis Centre.
Joewyn Pascua bested teammate Kid Jucutan for the Boys’ Singles title with the score at 3-5, 4-0, 3-3.
Alexa Joy Milliam triumphed against her Taiwanese opponent, 6-0, 6-3, to win the Girls’ Singles title.
The Philippines’ Andrei Jarata and Malaysia’s Thoybah Rahim took the Boys’ Doubles Finals, besting the Filipino tandem of Kid Jucutan and Joewyn Pascua with the score, 5-3, 4-2.
Milliam and Marielle Alexi “Maxie” Jarata completed the Philippines’ domination of the tourney as they defeated their Singaporean competition with the score at 4-6, 6-3, 10-4.

- Girls Singles Champion- Alexa Joy Milliam
- Girls Doubles Champion – Alexa Joy Milliam and Maxie Jarata
- Boys Singles Champion – Joewyn Pascua
- Boys Doubles Champion – Andrei Jarata and Thoybah Rahim
- Boys Doubles Runner – up – Kid Jucutan and Joewyn Pascua
- Boys Singles Runner-up – Kid Jucutan
The UTP team’s campaign at the 14th UTF 14&U Series 2019 in Malaysia was led by Coach Leander Lazaro.
Filipino junior tennis playeres have won various championships in international tourneys such as Team Philippines‘ 1st Asia Oceania Championship title earlier this year, Leylah Annie Fernandez‘ French Open Junior Singles title, and Alex Eala‘s multiple championships.
