The Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) has deployed its “Green Delivery” electric vehicles in relief operations in Pasig City.
PHLPost’s environment-friendly electric bicycles are assisting the local government in the transportation and delivery of relief goods to communities and medical supplies for health workers amid the COVID-19 health emergency.
The “Green Delivery” initiative of the PHLPost together with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), Pasig Transport, TailG, the Pasig Government, and Clean Air Asia are assisting the local government in the delivery of postal items.
The electric vans and bicycles are seen as ideal for the relief efforts due to their mobility that can penetrate narrow streets and roads. The Green Delivery e-vehicles can more easily distribute food packs and relief goods to residents staying at home while under strict Enhance Community Quarantine (ECQ).
The vehicle is a pilot testing project to facilitate sustainable transport to thrive in the “Green City” of Pasig. “What we have now in Pasig can be replicated in other parts of the country,” PHLPost said.
PHLPost had earlier announced the resumption of mail delivery for packages containing medical supplies and essential items.
The Philippine-made Hybrid Electric Road Train, COMET e-Bus, and e-Trikes have also been deployed to exclusively shuttle Frontliners and Health Service Providers going to and from their work.
