Philippine college radios are gathering for the first time in a bid to rediscover the potentials of radio for the youth.
The Philippine College Radio Congress (PCRC2016) brings together college radio practitioners, radio enthusiasts, media students, and media practitioners from across the country for four days of discussions and dialogue, skills development, and sharing of college radio broadcast experiences.
Participants are offered 5 tracks to follow for lectures, hands-on sessions, and fora on writing, marketing/advertising, post-production, performance, and advocacy. Speakers include broadcast reporters such as Jiggy Manicad and Maeane Los Banos, media practioner-educators Pinky Aseron and Mike Pedero, and a number of multimedia personalities.
PCRC 2016Co-Chair Professor Jane Vinculado shares, “We aspire to be a platform where participants learn from their speakers while their speakers learn from them. We want to form a collaborative relationship.”
The pioneering event will be held this week at the University of the Philippines Diliman and is organized by the Department of Broadcast Communication at the College of Mass Communication, the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas, and the Manila Broadcasting Company.
