The Philippine Robotics National Team bagged the Silver Award at the For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology (FIRST) Lego League (FLL) Asia Pacific Open Championship in Australia.
The Department of Science and Technology announced the win by the Philippine Robotics team represented by Grace Christian College’s “Gracean Whiz” team which finished in second place for Gracious Professionalism at the FIRST Lego League held last July 4-7 in Sydney,
The Philippine team competed among 43 teams of over 400 students from 21 countries. The award adds to the recognitions received by Philippine Robotics Team representatives at the FIRST Lego League this year. Dr. Yanga’s Colleges and De La Salle Zobel won for their robot creations at the FIRST Lego League in Texas in May. Dr. Yanga’s Colleges also won gold at the FLL in Turkey.

The winning Philippine Robotics Team received the award for “ethos of encouraging high quality work, emphasizes the value of others, and respects indivuduals and the community.”
Coached by Arlyn Jordan and Warren John Ong Pe, Gracean Whiz ranked 7th in the Robot Game and received high accolades for their Infinity Board project that brings recreational activities in space to a whole new level through portable tabletop board game system.
Meanwhile, another Philippine Robotics Team represented by Livingstone International School ranked 3rd in the Teamwork-Core Values category.
