Palawan in the Philippines is the ‘Million Dollar Island’ in the Dutch reality show airing in the Netherlands on the television channel SBS6 this March 2022.
One hundred Dutch nationals took part in the new two-month survival reality show filmed on the pristine waters and shores of northern Palawan, with the winner receiving one million euros.
The production team described the country as “a one in a million location for filming all reality shows” in its citation presented to the Philippine Ambassador.
The show is produced by Monday Media Production, the producer of the Dutch version of the popular reality television show “Survivor” known as “Expeditie Robinson” which was also previously filmed in the Philippines.
“This highly-rated program is another opportunity for our Dutch friends to discover the Philippines. We welcome them to our country. Enjoying the sun and beach in our tropical paradise is one grand way to cast out the pandemic blues,” Philippine Ambassador to The Netherlands J. Eduardo Malaya said in a statement on March 2, 2022.
“Million Dollar Island” will air on television channel SBS6 starting March 6, 2022, Sunday, at 9:30 pm.
The show will also be available for viewing on the streaming service Prime Video, an hour after its broadcast on SBS6.
The Philippines’ Palawan islands were declared among Big 7 Travel’s annual ranking of The 50 Best Islands in the World last year and in the travel website’s world’s best bucket list places for the new decade.
