The Philippines’ leading oil companies Petron Corporation and Pilipinas Shell Corporation have announced major fuel price reductions effective Tuesday, March 17, 2020.
Petron announced over the weekend that it will implement fuel price rollbacks effective 6 a.m. on March 17, saying, “These reflect movements in the international oil market. Thank you.”
Petron will implement the price rollbacks on the following fuel products:
- Rollback by Php 4.00 per liter for gasoline
- Rollback by Php 4.00 per liter for diesel
- Rollback by Php 4.50 per liter for kerosene
Shell will have the following price rollback:
- Rollback by Php 4.25 per liter for gasoline
- Rollback by Php 4.25 per liter for diesel
- Rollback by Php 4.35 per liter for kerosene
Unioil also announced it will have its fuel prices cut down:
- Rollback by more than Php 4.00 per liter for gasoline
- Rollback by more than Php 4.00 per liter for diesel
Flying V will implement price reduction on the following products:
- Rollback by Php 4.00 per liter for gasoline
- Rollback by Php 4.00 per liter for biodiesel
- Rollback by Php 4.50 per liter for kerosene
Meanwhile, the Department of Energy (DOE) assured the public that there is continuous and sufficient oil supply in the National Capital Region (NCR) during the 30-day community quarantine from March 15 to April 14, 2020.
“During this most challenging time, it is imperative to ensure the continued supply of fuel products, especially in areas under quarantine. Having sufficient petroleum supply is vital, making it a critical concern amid this crisis. The entire energy family is working 24/7 to make sure that energy services remain unimpeded” said Energy Secretary Alfonso G. Cusi.
Petron’s mother company is Filipino multinational company, San Miguel Corporation which is implementing measures to keep its employees free from COVID-19.
