Filipino-British football player Neil Etheridge will be reunited with the Philippine Azkals in a FIFA World Cup Qualifiers game to be held in Negros Occidental this October.
The 29 year-old Cardiff City FC will serve as Team Philippines’ goalkeeper in a joint tournament qualification for the 2022 FIFA World Cup and the 2023 AFC Asian Cup at the Pana-ad Park and Stadium in Bacolod.
Etheridge, who had just recovered from a hamstring injury, is set to join the Philippine football team in their match against China.

Azkals’ goalie Neil Etheridge last played for the Philippine national team at the 2018 Suzuki Cup.
Etheridge made football history as the first Southeast Asian football player to sign up and play in the English Premier League for Cardiff City FC.
The bluebirds’ goalkeeper was also hailed hero and awarded as the team’s best player.
Meanwhile, the Philippine Azkals sit in third place at the FIFA World Cup Asian Qualifiers with a record of one heartbreaking loss against Syria (5-2) and one breakthrough win against Guam (4-1).
