Filipino beauty Leren Mae Bautista of Laguna was crowned Miss Globe 2019 2nd runner-up in Ulcinj, Montenegro on Tuesday morning (Monday evening in Ulcinj).
Bautista emerged in the Top 3 of the beauty pageant in the October 21 (October 22 in Philippines) coronation that drew 49 candidates from around the world to the competition held in the Southeast European nation.
The 5’8″ model-beauty queen from the Philippines performed strongly throughout the competition, earning the Top 2 spot among the Most Voted Participants commanding 24% of votes on The Miss Globe site, second only to USA’s 38%.
The 26-year-old Bautista went into the final competitions among the Top 8 finalists carrying a platform of anti-bullying, being herself a victim in her younger years. The Marketing Management degree holder from the Colegio de San Juan de Letran Calamba is also an environmental advocate having grown up in the green community of Los Baños.
In the question and answer segment of the pageant, Bautista said, “If I will win Miss Globe 2019, I will use this platform to create an awareness to protect our planet.
“We could start within ourselves. We could start with small things by volunteering in our communities, by picking up the trash and throwing it to the right bin and by conserving our water. Because I believe, Mother Theresa once said, ‘Not all of us can do great things but all of us can do small things with great love’,” said the Binibining Pilipinas beauty queen.
