Over 15M students and about 500,000 teachers from public schools all over the country will now have free access to more than 1,000 eBooks and textbooks with the opening of Globe Telecom’s electronic library (eLibrary).
The Global Filipino School program of the telecoms company allows partner schools access to the GFSLibrary.com which contains storybooks for children and young adults, and textbooks on English, Filipino, Math, Science, Music, Arts, among other subjects.
The e-books can be accessed from any device using any basic e-book reader.
Globe director for Citizenship Fernando Esguerra said, “With the expansion of the Global Filipino Schools Program and awareness of the GFS Library around the country, public schools can more effectively make use of reading resources and promote digital learning to more students and teachers nationwide, particularly in schools where access to quality books is limited and usage of technology for learning is not maximized.”
The beneficiary schools are also given a Globe Digital Laboratory package containing netbooks/tablets, wifi devices, and a mobile cart with a built-in projector screen and workstation while teachers are trained on ICT education and project-based learning through the GFS Master Teachers Workshop and Online Coaching Course.
