Filipino game developers Keybol Games and ThinkBIT Games captured the top 2 spots in the 2019 Global Top Round (GTR) Pre-Acceleration program held in Bangkok.
Keybol Games won first place and will move on to the top 20 games development studios participating in the GTR Conference on September 9-10 in Busan, South Korea. ThinkBIT Games came in second place.
The two Filipino starts up games developers were part of the 10 finalists which showcased their games as they vied for top spots during the program held from June 17 to 28.
GTR announced the winning studios on June 28:
- 1st place, “Jack Axe” by Keybol Games (Philippines)
- 2nd place, “Brawl Quest” by ThinkBIT Games (Philippines)
- 3rd place, “ZombieSoup” by Aeonsparx Interactive (Malaysian) studio
Keybol Games’ “Jack Axe” features axe-throwing warrior Jack exploring a world inspired by Filipino and Norse mythology. ThinkBIT Games’ “Brawl Quest” is an arcade player brawl game playable on Android devices.
As the first place winner at the GTR Pre Acceleration Program, Keybol Games received additional prizes:
- cash prize of $500
- travel and accommodation subsidy of up to $2,000
- 50% discount on GTR’s G.Round game market research platform
“Jack Axe” will be made available for public gaming on PC via Steam and the Nintendo Switch.
