Filipino-American Grammy winner H.E.R. is on the June cover of Essence magazine.
H.E.R. (Having Everything Revealed) is the moniker of Gabriella Wilson, the Grammy-winning singer-songwriter who delivered an industry upset at the Grammys earlier this year. The 22-year-old bagged 5 nominations and won 2 Grammys on her first outing.
She brought home the Grammy for Best R&B Album even without releasing an album. The award was based on H.E.R., a 21-song compilation of her previous releases.

MEET: H.E.R., Filipino American singer nominated for 5 Grammys
H.E.R. revealed in the cover feature that amidst all accolades and awards she received, she treasures most a young girl’s conversation.
“A girl, she came up to me after a show and said, ‘You saved me.’ She told me that she’d been thinking of ending her life, but my songs helped her realize her worth. When I heard that, I almost cried. Like, wow, my music is necessary. I’m doing something right,” H.E.R. shared.
H.E.R. will perform at the 25th Essence Festival on July 6 in a concert featuring history’s biggest legends of Hip Hop & R&B. Essence Festival begins July 5 and will run until July 7 at the Mercedes Benz Superdome.
