Filipina-Danish beauty queen Michelle Charlotte Thorlund is set to represent the United States of America in the Miss Intercontinental 2022 pageant to be held in Egypt this October.
The half-blood Filipina will vie for the crown to be passed on by Cindy Obenita who took home the second Miss Intercontinental crown for the Philippines in 2021.
Thorlund had previously participated in Philippine pageants, placing in the Top 3 of Mutya ng Pilipinas in 2016 and the Top 12 of Miss World Philippines in 2019.
The 25-year-old fashion model was born to a Filipina mother in Orange County, California, the only member of their family to have been born in the United States.
Michelle Thorlund was chosen by the international pageant body to be Miss Intercontinental USA 2022, serving as the nation’s official delegate to the 50th anniversary of the Germany-based beauty contest.
“Welcome Michelle, the new elected Miss Intercontinental USA. Michelle is newly elected by our new License Holder from the USA, she is half Filipina and she will compete in the 50th Anniversary this year,” Miss Intercontinental announced in June.

“I have always shown pride in my heritage as well as my nationality,” Thorlund said in her Miss Intercontinental profile.
Before her new assignment as Miss Intercontinental USA, the ambassador for Pinay Magazine which promotes Filipina models globally, had first pursued modeling in the Philippines and America.
Her accomplishments in her modeling career have led to her being featured on some of the largest US billboards in Times Square, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles, showcasing the beauty of Asian Americans to the wider populace.
“Throughout my life, I have been extremely fortunate to pursue my dream of modeling. At the age of 18, I began modeling in Los Angeles and since then, my career has exceeded the dreams I once had for myself. I have traveled throughout the Philippines for my modeling career, as well as throughout the United States of America.”
Michelle Thorlund will compete against Gabby Basiano who has been selected to represent the Philippines in the Miss Intercontinental pageant on October 14 to be held in Sharm El Sheik, Egypt.
