The Far Eastern University (FEU) Chorale and Don Bosco Makati Boscorale have qualified for the Asia Choral Grand Prix (ACGP) 2021 to be held in Bali, Indonesia.
The FEU and Don Bosco choral groups were announced on Friday to be advancing to the regional championships as champions of the Andrea O. Veneracion International Choral Festival (AOVICF) competition held in July 2019.
The two university choirs will face the winners of the Bali International Choir Festival (BICF) and the Singapore International Choral Festival (SICF) in the Asian tri-festival competition that was launched in July this year at the Cultural Center of the Philippines in Manila.
The 1st ACGP champions, the University of the Philippines Los Banos (UPLB) Choral Ensemble, competed as the AOV 2017 winner.
The FEU choral group, whose members are nicknamed “Kantamaraws”, went on social media to accept the challenge of representing the Philippines at the 2nd ACGP saying, “The Far Eastern University Chorale is humbled to be chosen as one of the representatives for the upcoming 2nd Asia Choral Grand Prix to be held in Bali, Indonesia in 2021. Against all odds, we are going to sing our hearts out through God’s grace.”
The all-male high school choir Boscorale of Don Bosco Technical Institute in Makati had previously won the Youth Choir Equal Voices Grand Prize at the 10th Fukushima Vocal Ensemble Competition held in Fukushima, Japan.
