El Nido’s Pangalusian Island in Palawan province was recognized by lifestyle magazine Condé Nast Traveller Middle East (CNT ME) in their list of the best eco-friendly resort hotels of 2020.
The island resort in the MIMAROPA Region of the Philippines was 6th in the list of 12 tourist destinations cited in the 2020 Green Gold List: Best Hotels in Asia listing dedicated to the continent’s hotel leaders of not just hospitality, but eco-consciousness as well.
Pangalusian Island a.k.a. Island of the Sun, a luxurious private resort that juxtaposes chic modern architecture with Philippine elements and known for its green initiatives, was awarded for its sustainability efforts.
“A private island with an abundance of green initiatives, from water and energy conservation to coastal clean-ups, wildlife protection and EcoReefs to help replenish coral, the Philippines’ El Nido Pangalusian Island gives the local look an ever more eco touch.
“Accommodation, whether perched on stilts at the treetops or hidden away in a secluded cove, features fresh, contemporary Filipino style surrounded by pristine tropical nature that’s all yours,” writes CNT author Laurel Munshower in the CNT ME Best Listing released in February 2020.
Pangalusian Island’s initiatives include water treatment and conservative filtration; energy conservation; strict waste segregation and reusable product initiatives; instilling a green mindset in their staff and guests; and even ensuring the resort’s architecture was sustainably-sourced, and some products locally-sourced to sustain local communities.
Pangalusian Island, one of the four El Nido Resorts run by Ten Knots Development as eco-destinations, was among CNT’s Best Resorts of the World in 2018.
