The Philippines’ Kylie Verzosa honored Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) as she accepted her Best Actress award at the 2022 Distinctive International Arab Festivals Awards (DIAFA) held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
The Filipina beauty queen-actress received recognition for her first leading role in a film – the remake of the hit South Korean thriller “The Housemaid”.
Verzosa took to social media to share a video of her acceptance speech in the awards ceremony held live from Dubai Creek Harbour Marina in the United Arab Emirates.
“Six years ago when I won the international title for the Philippines, it was such a joyous moment for me. Today, I feel like winning another crown, and this time, for Best Actress,” Miss International 2016 Kylie Verzosa said in her acceptance speech video posted on November 5.
“Nothing ever beats the feeling of winning something for your own country because of your own hard work,” Verzosa adds.
Verzosa also dedicated the award to all hardworking OFWs “who have sacrificed their time, their happiness, and their efforts for the sake of their own country, but most of all, for their families.”
As a mental health advocate, Verzosa says she feels her responsibility is to bring to light stories of hope and encouragement so that others may move forward despite adversity.
Verzosa also encouraged all young girls and women to “keep on dreaming” and to never give up on their dreams.
The Distinctive International Arab Festivals Awards (DIAFA) is a unique and prestigious annual red carpet and awards ceremony that honors distinguished international and Arab personalities, in recognition of their achievements and contributions towards committees and society’s betterment.
