Davao Oriental’s hidden gem Lake Carolina in the municipality of Baganga can now be accessed by travelers through the new 2-lane NRJ Salingcomot Road.
Lake Carolina, known for its cool brackish water, laid-back charm, and different marine waters that vary in size, shape, and color, is considered one of the hidden treasures of the province of Davao Oriental.
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) announced on February 24, 2020, the completed concreting of NRJ Salingcomot Road.
According to District Engineer Cirilo M. Lasaca, the project involves the concreting of two (2) lanes with 230 millimeters thick of Portland Cement Concrete Pavement (PCCP), construction of grouted riprap, provision of reflectorized thermoplastic pavement markings, installation of metal guardrail (metal beam), solar LED street light and post, and provision of road signs along a 200 lineal meter road.
“We are hoping that with the completion of the concreted road, more tourists will be able to visit this hidden gem in Davao Oriental,” District Engineer Lasaca added.
The NRJ Salingcomot Road that leads to Lake Carolina was completed on a budget of Php 5.87 Million.
Another 2-lane road, also recently completed in Camarines Norte, provides travelers a scenic view on their way to “Mahabang Buhangin”, the Boracay-like beach on Calaguas Island.
Other road projects that lead to tourist sites include the Daang Kalikasan road that became a local tourist hot spot in Northern Luzon and Samar’s Basey Bypass road leading to Sohoton National Park and Balantak Falls.
