Filipino scientist and inventor Dr. Richard Nixon Gomez has established Bauertek Corporation, a new 100% Filipino-owned pharmaceutical firm, located in Bulacan.

The Filipino company at Sitio Kabilang Bakood, Sta. Rita in Guiguinto is a production, research, and development pharmaceutical facility for all-natural herbal supplements which are said to be three to four generations ahead of the norm.

Bauertek Corp. is expected to produce world class and Food and Drugs Administration (FDA)-approved food supplements.

Dr. Gomez’ company started as a decision to commercialise the high school research project of his son but focusing on the use of a local plant as a health supplement thus, embracing the company’s motto: “ImbensyongPinoy, GawangPinoy”.

Bauertek has already produced its first and the only Philippine-made food supplement, PiCUR, that is approved by the German Government for over-the-counter selling.

Bauertek Corporation’s soft opening and ceremonial ribbon cutting on December 16 was attended by Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Secretary Fortunato T. DelaPeňa as the Special Guest of Honor; Francisco “Popoy” Pagayon, the current President of the Filipino Inventor Society Producer Cooperative (FISPC); and. Anastacia R. Vistan, the current Municipal Mayor of Plaridel; among others.

The 100% Filipino company is expected to be fully operational in January 2020.

Bauertek Corp.’s future plans include partnering with various government agencies to benefit local farmers by acquiring plant raw materials and working with Filipino-owned plantations and government managed growing areas such as the 1000-hectare herbal plant farm in Isabela State University.

With the aid of DOST, the Filipino company will also provide technology, equipment, and machinery to convert the locally produced plants into globally acceptable products.

Filipinos are known to be gamechangers of science, among them, scientists who have developed the world’s first anti-dengue medicine and scientists who invented an abaca swan-amphibious vehicle for disaster rescue and relief operations.
