Archer the cat was feted in graduation ceremonies prepared by De La Salle University Professors for the Upliftment of Society’s Animals (DLSU PUSA) as a sendoff to the animal mascot who is moving to a new home.
DLSU PUSA, the organization under the Office of the Vice President for Lasallian Mission that cares mainly for the Taft campus’ cats, set up an event on March 27 to pay tribute to its mascot, crowd source funds for his health care, and send him off to to his new home off campus.
“Due to the state of Archer’s health condition, we have made the irrevocable decision to have him rehomed. His recent lab tests showed that he has severe liver and kidney problems, not to mention high fat. Hence, he will need to change his lifestyle — which includes a drastic change in his diet,” went the announcement of DLSU PUSA on their Facebook page.
The animal welfare organization caring for Archer the cat said it is letting former guard “Ate Jenny,” now working from home, to adopt their DLSU cat.
“We know that we can entrust our Lion King with only one person: Ate Jenny. She was the guard assigned at the North Gate and is now working from home. She will monitor Archer closely and provide us with regular updates.
She was Archer’s original mom on campus, two years before PUSA even started. Her deep bond with our little Lion King made this decision much easier for us. Archer is officially moving into her home on March 27, 2019.”
DLSU PUSA called for donations for Archer the cat:
- Papi Renacure
- Liverolin
- Prescription cat food for liver and kidney (renal)
