Filipina actress Crisel Consunji has gained the recognition of the Hong Kong Film Awards for her role in the acclaimed movie, “Still Human.”
Consunji was awarded “Best New Performer” for playing a Filipino Overseas Filipino Worker who leaves her country and dreams to work as a caregiver in Hong Kong.
The creative arts educator was nominated for two awards including the plum, Best Actress.
Consunji posted on social media her appreciation of the award and the film that gave her the acting trophy writing, “I was 10 when I first began performing professionally onstage. The journey has taken me places, but I didn’t think I would find myself in front of an international awards-giving body, nor speaking for an acclaimed film!”
The former Disney performer highlighted the value of the film “Still Human” saying, “Yes, the movie is about breaking barriers and discovering the underlying humanity that unites us all. That said, it is also a movie about dreams— and that anyone can dream as big as their hearts can carry.
Last night was a dream I didn’t know I had… and what a wonderful experience it is to have worked hard for this reality.”
Crisel Consunji personally received her acting award at the 38th Hong Kong Film Awards Presentation Ceremony held April 14.
