Nuseir Yassin, popularly known as travel vlogger Nas Daily, returned to his most favorite country on earth – the Philippines – to create his fourth video featuring Filipinos.
Palestinian-Israeli Yassin has become world-famous after he left his high-paying job in the United States to travel the world while posting daily one-minute videos on Facebook.
Nas Daily was in the country for the fourth time to create a video showcasing the country’s efforts to rehabilitate its world-famous beaches and other nature destinations such as Boracay, El Nido in Palawan, Puerto Galera, and even Manila Bay.
Yassin, together with fellow vloggers Agon Hare of Project Nightfall and Dear Alyne’s Alyne Tamir, met fans during a meet-and-greet event at the SM Aura in Taguig City on September 27.
The famous Facebook vlog team of the “That’s 1-minute” stories from around the world partnered with the Department of Tourism for a video project that is expected to be released this week.
The 27-year-old social media celebrity had previously posted videos of the Philippines and Filipinos that have become viral, including Nas Daily’s Day 434 video “This doesn’t cost millions” which shows the many tourism offerings of the Philippines and the Filipinos and created for just US$100.
In the Philippine tourism video post Yassir, an Economics and Computer Science graduate from Harvard University, said he wanted to show how a mere
US$100 dollars budget can produce an effective promotional video for so much less than what governments spend usually on agency-produced videos.
Nas Daily’s Day 298 video “How Cheap is the Philippines” was the first video on the Philippines produced by the freelance video journalist after he visited the country in 2017.
In 2018, Nas Daily again released another video titled “The Most Lovable Country!” showing how Filipinos warmly welcome strangers to their homes and lives.
In the 2018 video the Facebook celebrity declares, “If you know me in person, you’ll know that Philippines is the country I love the most… And I never quite explained why. Until I made this 6-minute video of my second time there.
If this doesn’t make you love them, I don’t know what will.”
In February 2019, the Philippines’ Department of Tourism, under the helm of Secretary Bernadette Romulo Puyat, kicked off a campaign that used crowd-sourced content as part of its budget-conscious tourism program.
