A 13-year-old 4P’s beneficiary, Jhon Rod Amodia, has managed to give out relief packs to his neighbors in Barangay Gabi, Cordova in Cebu, despite coming from a poor family.
Jhon Rhod, with the help of his mother, handed out 50 packs of goods that contained two kilos of rice, two noodle packs, 2 canned sardines, and four eggs wrapped in a plastic container after breaking his “alkansya” or piggy bank.
On June 2, 2020, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in Central Visayas recognized the good deeds of Amodia for extending his help to his neighbors affected by the coronavirus pandemic.
DSWD said, “Even if he comes from an indigent family, Jhon Rhod did not consider it a hindrance to being able to share his blessings to his neighbors through some goods that he bought using his personal money.”
Being known in the community as the “Little Pastor,” Jhon said (in Cebuano), “Through the help of God, I was able to gather the amount that is enough to buy relief goods and I was grateful that my prayers were answered because in my heart I am determined to help others especially those who are in need, like us.”
Nicole Angco Tirol, one of the relief drive recipients of Jhon’s good deed, expressed her gratitude as she posted on her FB account saying, “bata pa kaayo ka pero nakabuhat ka niini (you’re still very young but you are able to do this).”
Amodia was previously chosen as the regional winner of 2019 Exemplary Pantawid Pamilya Children in September 2019.
Stories of ordinary people helping the needy have touched the hearts of many netizens, including the good deed of security guard Rene Abelita who served as a teacher to street children in Manila during the lockdown and pizza delivery guy Raymund Papellero who uses his salary and tips to buy bread for street dwellers he sees on his route.
SEND LOVE in the comments below to Cebu’s Jhon Rhod Amodia for showing selflessness by giving relief packs to his neighbors.
