The 4th Filipina Miss Universe titleholder, Catriona Gray, has been campaigning to raise funds for Filipino children with cleft palate since her birthday on January 6 and the amount has jumped to more than 300,000 pesos.
In her social media post on January 22, the beauty queen shared the current amount she has raised for Smile Train Philippines, indicating more than half of her target fund and the number of children who can be helped.
“Since Jan 6, we’ve raised Php358,500 for @smiletrainph that’s 26 life-changing surgeries for children born with a cleft,” the 26-year-old model and singer said.
Catriona previously posted an update on her fundraising drive on January 16 after reaching after receiving more than Php 100K, good for surgeries of 8 children.
Now that she was able to raise over Php 300K for the “cause close to her heart”, Catriona’s birthday fund drive can now accommodate 26 children’s surgical needs to correct their inborn cleft palate.
The child advocate encouraged more donations until the end of January 2020, towards her target amount of Php 500K.
“There’s still 8 days left if you’d like to support!” the Filipino-Australian beauty encouraged her supporters and shared the crowdfunding site link.
Catriona Gray has been passionately bringing her causes to the public as an ambassador and spokesperson to various charitable organizations even after her reign as Miss Universe 2018.
Catriona is currently pursuing a music career in the Philippines, is set to release her self-authored book called “Conquering Your Universe”, and will have a wax figure in Madame Tussauds Museum this year.
