Miss Universe Catriona Gray of the Philippines today wraps up her reign as she crowns a new beauty queen in Atlanta, Georgia.
The fourth Filipina Miss Universe hosted the Miss Universe Preliminary and National Costume shows ahead of the coronation ceremony on December 8 (December 9 Philippine time).
Gray went on social media to share, “One of my favourite moments in my @missuniverse journey was undoubtedly the Preliminary and National Costume shows! This year I’ll once again be on stage but as a host as this year’s #MissUniverse 2019 delegates show their best.”
Ahead of the competition, Catriona Gray also posted a video showing how she carried her Filipino Pride throughout her year-long journey as the 2018 Miss Universe.
In the video titled “The 4th Filipina Miss Universe”, Gray was seen at her best moments showcasing Philippine travel destinations, Filipino indigenous textile, and her advocacy for poor children.
The Filipina beauty captioned the video posted on November 21 with, “I carried my nation across my heart as my nation carried me. Glancing back at the path taken, we prepare for the journey ahead. Are you ready for it?”
The Miss Universe social media posted a video of Catriona Gray’s last photoshoot as the reigning queen, revealing an emotional parting.
Miss Universe social media had also revealed videos and photos of the new Miss Universe crown that Catriona Gray will place on the head of the new queen.
Catriona Gray won the 2018 Miss Universe title in Thailand on a platform of positivity and her love for the poor.
The Filipina Miss Universe had grabbed the world’s attention in headlines that showed her iconic lava walk and flaming red gown inspired by the Philippines’ famous Mayon Volcano that is nestled in the region of the home of her Filipina mother.
Gray had championed Filipino textile in her pageant gowns and afterwards in her many appearances as the Miss Universe.
Catriona Gray’s Christmas Parol-inspired LuzViMinda National Costume was loaned to the Philippines for a special museum display.
In June, Catriona Gray delivered a moving speech as she turned over the Bb. Pilipinas Universe crown to Gazini Ganados who is competing for a back-to-back win for the Philippines in today’s pageant competition.
Similar to Catriona Gray catching the world’s fancy during the preliminary competition, Miss Philippines Gazini Ganados is also being hailed as a frontrunner in the 2019 Miss Universe.
