Camarines Norte’s new 2-lane paved road provides travelers a scenic view on their way to “Mahabang Buhangin”, the Boracay-like beach on Calaguas Island.
“Mahabang Buhangin” is the local beach on Calaguas Island and is one of the leading tourist sites in Camarines Norte, boasting of white sandy beaches and crystal-clear blue waters.
The road improvement project was reported completed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) on February 24, 2020.
DPWH Camarines Norte OIC-District Engineer Edwin A. Bermal said that the former 485-meter gravel road has now been reconstructed as a 2-lane paved road with a budget of Php 14.7-million.
“Residents of Barangay Pinagtigasan and neighboring barangays are now utilizing better road leading to the local pristine beachbetter road leading to the local pristine beach in the island dubbed Mahabang Buhangin,” said Bermal.
Other road projects that lead to tourist sites include the Daang Kalikasan road that became a local tourist hot spot in Northern Luzon and Samar’s Basey Bypass road leading to Sohoton National Park and Balantak Falls.
