The Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles and the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons lead the team standings as the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 84 Men’s Basketball Round 2 starts today.
A potential rematch between the Season 81 finalists appears to be in the works as the Ateneo swept all its games in the UAAP Season 84 Round 1 for a clean 7 wins 0 losses record while UP went on a six-game winning streak after losing its first match against Ateneo and now holds the solo 2nd spot with a 6-1 scorecard.
The Jesuit-run Ateneo has been displaying its formidable team as it guns for its 4th straight UAAP championship including in 2018 against the only state university in the league that made a historic comeback to bring the UP fight to the finals after winning its last UAAP crown in 1986.
Ateneo and UP will meet at the last game of Round 2 scheduled on May 1, Sunday, 7 PM.
In 3rd place is the De La Salle University Green Archers with a 5-2 scorecard. At 4th is the National University Bulldogs with 4-3.
Far Eastern University Tamaraws hold a 3-4 card; University of Santo Tomas Growling Tigers at 2-5; Adamson University Soaring Falcons with 1-6; University of the East Warriors at 0 wins 7 losses.
UAAP has also welcomed the live audience to the games as it encouraged students and alumni to cheer for their university teams.

ROUND 2 BEGINS APRIL 12
With fans in the stands, drums beating, and organized cheers now present at the MOA Arena, UAAP Season 84 Round 2 kicked off at 10 AM today with a match between the UP Fighting Maroons and the NU Bulldogs. The UP Fight was strong as the team from Diliman dominated the Manila school, 84-76, to raise the UP Fighting Maroons standing now at 7 wins 1 loss.
Legendary rivals Ateneo Blue Eagles and the De La Salle University Green Archers clash tonight at 7 PM.
