Adela Mae Marshall bravely fought to defend the Philippines’ hold on to the title for Asia’s Next Top Model (AsNTM) and emerged runner-up winner of the competition which ended Wednesday.
Marshall vied to retain the title of Asia’s Next Top Model won by Filipina Maureen Wroblewitz in 2017.
The 20-year-old Marshall made it to the final 3 competing models in the AsNTM Cycle 6 after a series of challenges that pitted her against other nation’s models in varying degrees of photography modelling tasks.
The Filipina with British lineage went on Instagram after the show ended and in true sportsman fashion congratulated winner Dana Slosar of Thailand while poking fun at herself and fellow runner up Mia Sabathy from Taiwan. “We put up a good fight but we are just too good at being runners up,” wrote Marshall.
Marshall had her last best photo in episode 9 praised by AsNTM judge Yu Tsai describing it: “It’s a perfect balance of beauty and editorial.” The photo challenge had her family in Thailand for the photoshoot.
Marshall sent out a message to her countrymen in a mix of Filipino and English.
“Sabi ko noon, ‘Laban Pilipinas,’ and kahit hindi ako manalo ngayon I will continue to try and represent the Philippines in the best way I can. Maraming maraming salamat para sa supportahan n’yo.
I’m sorry I couldn’t bring home the title for a back-to-back win but I hope I was able to show you na pusong Pinoy ako. I hope I was able to represent the Philippines well and I hope to be able to see you soon…or maybe you’ll be seeing me,” Marshall wrote on Instagram.
Adela Mae Marshall emerged in the final 3 models of AsNTM after eight rounds of competition held in Thailand.
