Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) Commissioner Kim Jacinto-Henares was named in the Global Tax 50, an annual list of individuals and organizations which have made an impact or influence on taxation that will be felt beyond the 12-month period covered by the list.
The Global Tax 50 cited the Filipino tax chief for her work last 2015 making the Philippines a member of the global forum on base erosion and profit sharing (BEPS), a tax evasion phenomenon that involves the use of digital economy.
Henares was also recognized for participating in the Committee on Fiscal Affairs of the Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) that set the organization’s tax agenda and for being a member of the United Nations’ tax experts. The BIR chief was nominated vice-chairwoman of OECD Working Party 15, a group that will create a multilateral treaty to incorporate the BEPS recommendations to existing bilateral tax treaties.
The Global Tax 50 is released by the International Tax Review, a multi-media source of information on key areas of tax to people in the tax professionals in industry, academe, government and private practice.
