Four Bohol churches will reopen its doors to the public coinciding with the upcoming 500th anniversary of Christianity in the Philippines.
Damaged by an intensity 7.2 earthquake in 2013, the century-old heritage churches of Cortes, Loboc, Loon, and Maribojoc are reported to be nearing complete restoration and reconstruction.
The National Museum is spearheading the repairs using the same original materials for Loboc and Cortes churches, while new materials were utilized in rebuilding the Loon and Maribojoc churches.

San Pedro Apostol church in Loboc and Santo Niño church in Cortes were severely damaged but survived the calamity.
Santa Cruz church in Maribojoc and Nuestra Señora de la Luz church of Loon were left in ruins after the earthquakes, thus necessitating the use of new construction material.
Fr. Milan Ted Torralba of the Tagbilaran Diocese shared to media that the four churches are about 60-65 percent complete and will open in the first quarter of 2020 in time for the 500th year anniversary of the arrival of the Christian religion in the Philippines.
The heritage churches of Bohol will reopen to the parishioners in their pre-quake appearances and are expected to attract tourists.
