Forbes Asia has named 8 Filipino companies in its inaugural Best Over a Billion listing of top performers in the Asia-Pacific region.
Forbes Asia’s 200 Best Over A Billion 2019 lists the best-performing, small and midsized companies in the Asia-Pacific region with revenues of $1 billion or more.
The Filipino companies named in the new Forbes list released in late August includes investment firms, food and beverage giants, and property corporations.
The Forbes Asia Best Over A Billion list complements the long-established Best Under A Billion list with less than $1 billion in revenue, to identify the best 400 from the smallest to the biggest companies in the region.
The criteria for the two lists are similar with the $1 billion revenue dividing line.
Popular Filipino restaurant chain Jollibee was noted as successfully crossing over from the Best Under A Billion list into the new Best Over A Billion ranking.
The Filipino companies were ranked against a pool of 3,200 listed companies in the Asia-Pacific region with $1 billion or more in revenue in their latest financial year.
Final rankings were based on metrics that include:
- average five-year sales
- operating income growth
- return on capital
- projected growth over the next one to two years
Those having the highest composite score earned a place in the final list of Forbes Asia 200 Best Over a Billion Asia Pacific.
These are the Filipino companies in the Forbes ranking arranged according to their latest full-year sales revenue:
- SM Investments Corp. ($7.99 billion)
- San Miguel Food and Beverage ($5.4 billion)
- JG Summit Holdings ($5.3 billion)
- Ayala Corp. ($5.2 billion)
- GT Capital Holdings ($3.79 billion)
- Cosco Capital ($3.19 billion)
- Jollibee Foods Corp. ($3 billion)
