Evaluation Criteria
WURI evaluates HEIs across 13 categories, which were assessed based on three criteria: innovativeness, implementability, and impact.
The evaluators then selected the best programs for each of the 13 categories from the list of applicants on the evaluation sheet.
Importance of International Rankings
The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) stated in its press release that international rankings are important because they make Philippine HEIs benchmark with HEIs across the globe and identify improvements needed in teaching, research, public service, and the kind of graduates they need to produce.
“The continuing annual increase in the number of Philippines HEIs that are subjecting themselves to international assessment and ranking is indeed outstanding. The fact that these HEIS are joining the list of the top universities not just in the WURI rankings but also in the other international ranking bodies shows the globalized outlook and competitiveness of our public and private universities,” CHED Chairman J. Prospero de Vera III said.
WURI, a ranking system of the Organizing Committee of the Hanseatic League of Universities, is among the three CHED-recognized ranking systems for HEI internationalization, alongside Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) and Times Higher Education (THE) rankings.
