Young’s Town Sardines maker, Maunlad Canning Corporation, received the International Food and Beverage Quality Award in Madrid, Spain.
Given by Global Trade Leaders Club, the award recognizes the Filipino company for its product excellence and contribution to the country’s development.
Young’s Town owner Lapaz Ngo told media, “Dumating ito nang sorpresa at napatunayan natin na kaya nating mga Pilipino na makipagsabayan sa buong mundo (This came as a surprise but we were able to prove the Filipino can excel like the rest of the world),” said Ngo.
Philippine Consul General to Spain Emmanuel Fernandez congratulated the Philippine company saying, “Isa itong karangalan hindi lang para sa Young’s Town kundi para sa buong Pilipinas (This is an honor not only for Young’s Town but for the entire Philippines), they put the Philippines on the map ng international market especially in the area of canned food business,” said Fernandez.
The Global Trade Leaders Club selects the recipients of its annual awards with the main aim of the promotion of trade exchanges and relationships among businesses with particular focus on small and medium enterprises.
Maunlad is a family-owned canning company with factories in Navotas ans Zamboanga.
