Are you waiting for a promotion?
Are you still waiting for the people around you to change – your spouse, your friend, your officemate, your classmate, your relative, your boss or your neighbor?
Are you growing tired of waiting for Mister or Miss Right?
Are you tired of waiting for your ambitions and dreams to become a reality?
Are you still waiting for a child to complete your dream family?
What are the things you have been waiting for?
One of the most difficult things in life is WAITING!
Take planting for instance. It is a difficult task. It takes being out under the sun all day, but the most difficult part is the WAIT. And this is also probably the most difficult season in life in general. We would often be overcome by fatigue, impatience, stress and uncertainty. This is because we don’t know when the proper time will happen or even if it will happen. Thus, sometimes people just throw in the towel and give up on the wait
Charles Stanley says, “Our willingness to wait reveals the value we place on what we’re waiting for.” If what you are waiting for is truly important to you, then you will wait for it no matter what. For you, it is worth waiting for. What’s more, the longer you wait for something, the more you will appreciate it when you get it. Anything worth having is definitely worth waiting for.
The question is, what should be our attitude when we are in the season of waiting?
POSITIVE ATTITUDE
If you only entertain the negative thoughts while waiting, then you will definitely not last the waiting period. You should feed your mind with positive thoughts and surround yourself with positive people who will encourage you and build you up. If you give the negative things first place in your mind, then I am sure that you will not attain your much-awaited goal, whether that be a person, something or an opportunity.
GOOD ATTITUDE
There is a saying, “Patience is not the ability to wait, but the ability to keep a good attitude while waiting.” More often than not, waiting reveals our true character. For instance, you order at a restaurant and it takes so long for it to be served; don’t you usually get irritated and complain?
When you need to wait standing in line for a bus or an FX taxi, and someone cuts in, doesn’t it make your blood boil? What is your attitude when you absolutely need to wait? Cranky, short-tempered, always complaining, resorting to lies, bitterness and maligning others? Keeping and having a good attitude while waiting will make this season more enjoyable, exciting and fulfilling for you.
PERSEVERING ATTITUDE
I want to give emphasis on this attitude called perseverance. Do you know that good things come to those who wait? There are people who can’t wait and just settle for what is available at the moment. In the end, they end up regretting their decision because instead of waiting and ending up with the best, they end up with only the mediocre.
Perseverance doesn’t just allow us to achieve what we are waiting for, but it also produces good character in us. We may not always understand why we need to wait and why we need to wait so long? Can’t we just have what we want NOW? However, there will come a time when you will look back at this moment and you will realize that everything happens for a reason. Often, God has something great in store for us but it is just not the right time yet. Just because something isn’t happening right at the moment doesn’t mean that it will never happen at all. There’s a season for everything. Always remember that you are not waiting in vain.
Whatever it is that you are waiting for in this life, may you attain it with a positive, good and persevering attitude. It is not easy to wait, but with these attitudes there is nothing too difficult for you. At the end of the day, you will realize that it is all worth waiting for.
