Aside from winning the CNN/YouTube Debates, the two Filipinos are invited by search engine giant Google to shoot videos during their travel to Copenhagen from December 13 to 18, 2009.
Paul Darwynn Garilao and Alfonso Orioste, Jr., graduates of De La Salle University-Manila, are expected to produce video diary during the UN Climate Change Conference. This is aside from the six-minute documentary film they submitted that won the user-generated video online competition.
According to Ricarda Sophia Fricke, the agency working for YouTube/Google and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, “Google asked us to contact you directly for this…To give your videos even more impact, we were wondering if you feel like sharing your experiences during your trip to Copenhagen.”
“This is an opportunity for us to report Copenhagen according to the Filipino perspective. Our travel will definitely focus on how the environmental city serves as a benchmark when it comes to alternative energies,” Garilao shared.
The young guys “have all creative freedom to take your camera and let us know how you feel and what things you come across every day during your trip.” Ricarda also suggests, “The Debate from CNN and YouTube aired on December 15 will be another highlight during these days. If you want to let others know how you experienced that through your eyes, it would be very interesting.”

Alfonso Orioste, Jr.
Orioste said their experience on CNN/YouTube debates will be part of their diary video.
“It is exciting to film ourselves with the global leaders from 193 nations who will discuss and seal the deal on climate change,” he added.
Their series of videos would be integrated into the COP15 channel. They could become part of the closing video that shall summarize the involvement of users regarding the conference.
The video called “Raise Your Voice by Filipino environmental advocates” is one of the winning entries for the CNN/YouTube Debates online competition held to raise awareness on environmental issues in time for the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen in Denmark from December 7 to 18,2009.
The film discussed disaster preparedness and the need to shift to alternative energy resources. As of press time, the video has 8,000 views with 41 comments.
