Fil-Canadian joins Manitoba Cabinet in Canada

A Filipino-Canadian was recently appointed as one of the ministers under the Cabinet of new Premier, Greg Selinger in Manitoba, Canada.
Flor Marcelino, a member of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba, was appointed as the new Minister for Culture, Heritage, Tourism and Multiculturalism.
The news about Marcelino’s appointment, which was carried by Canada’s news providers, was cheered by the Filipino community.
In 2007, Marcelino was the “first woman of color to be elected to Manitoba’s provincial parliament.”
Prior to joining public office, Marcelino who hails from Lucena City, was the editor of Winnipeg-based newspaper, The Philippine Times.
