Top OPM artists offer song for typhoon victims
Posted on October 20th, 2009 under Entertainment SuccessTop Filipino recording artists Ogie Alcasid, Jolina Magdangal, Erik Santos, Karylle, Chrisian Bautista, Agot Isidro, Geneva Cruz, Rico Blanco, Jay-R, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Sarah Geronimo, Charice, Arnel Pineda, KC Concepcion and Sharon Cuneta are just some of the leading singers to help typhoon victims through an original song titled “Kaya Natin ‘To.”
More than 40 singers will be lending their voices – free of charge – to help raise funds for needy Filipinos.
The “Kaya Natin Ito” single is composed by Ogie Alcasid and other featured artists include Sitti, Kris Lawrence, Dingdong Avanzado and Nina.
“Hindi ko akalain na ganito siya kalaki,” Magdangal said.
“Ang sarap ng feeling na parang walang network war. Friends tayo lahat with common purpose and common goal,” Bautista said.
The proceeds from the single will be given to the Philippine National Red Cross and Gawad Kalinga and their respective disaster relief projects.
The collaborative project was reportedly inspired by the US-Africa project, led by the late King of Pop Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie. The two artists gathered the US’s top singers to record a version of the song “We Are The World” to help war-torn Africa.
Aside from the single, Alcasid and his fellow singers are also set to do a “unity concert” on Christmas Day this year, also for the benefit of typhoon victims.
