Global Finance names Tetangco one of World’s Best Central Bankers

Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Governor Amando M. Tetangco, Jr. was named one of the world’s six best central bankers in 2012 by Global Finance magazine.
This is the fourth time Tetangco is receiving the award from the international financial magazine. He received the same citation in 2006, 2007, and 2011.
Global Finance said that under Tetangco’s leadership, “the central bank of the Philippines took advantage of receding inflation to cut its benchmark interest rate to a record low 3.75% in July, to stimulate growth as the global economy weakens.”
Aside from Tetangco, the magazine also named Glenn Stevens (Australia); Mark Carney (Canada); Stanley Fischer (Israel); Zeti Akhtar Aziz (Malaysia); and Fai-Nan Perng (Taiwan) as its Grade “A” central bankers for 2012.
