Dennis Orcollo completed a stirring comeback by downing Taiwan’s Lu Hui Chan, 11-9, to capture the 2012 China Open at the Shanghai Pudong Yuanshen Stadium.

Orcollo stamped his class against Lu in a thriller of a finale to win his first WPA-sanctioned event since ruling the 2011 World 8-Ball Championship in Fujairah, United Arab Emirates.

His journey to the crown was also not easy as he had to go through the loser’s bracket after bowing to Andreas Gerwen of Sweden, 9-8, in the opener.

Orcollo actually had to win four games in two days to advance to the finals of the annual event.

Orcollo had to beat hometown bets Fu Jianbo, Dang Jinhu and Han Haoxiang on Saturday before downing Yu Lung Chang, 11-9, in the semifinals.

He downed Fu, 11-4, in the Round-of-32, edged Dang, 11-9, in the Round-of-16 before trouncing Han, 11-8, in the quarterfinals.

“All of my opponents today were very tough,” Orcollo told WPA-Pool.com after the trio of wins. “But I played good today. I have good concentration, my focus is good right now.”

“This is a really big tournament because of all the good players here from all over the world. I just have to play my game and not think about winning, just concentrate and play one game at a time.”
