Pinoy Ad agency wins Grand Prix award in South KoreaPosted on September 7th, 2012 under We are Pinoys!
BBDO Guerrero was awarded the Grand Prix at Adstars 2012 – The Busan International Advertising Festival– held in Busan, Korea. Out of over 10,000 entries from 57 countries, a select panel of international judges chose BBDO Guerrero’s entry for their Pepsi client’s programme with MyShelter Foundation’s Liter Of Light project. This follows international acclaim for this project at the New York Clio awards and the Cannes Advertising festival.
Together with the Grand Prix trophy, Tony Harris, Chief Executive of BBDO Guerrero, received a cheque for US$10,000 which they are donating to the Liter Of Light project with bottle lights installed in the name of the agency.
In his acceptance speech, he highlighted the partnership of MyShelter, Pepsi and BBDO Guerrero in creating a project that helped gain international recognition for Filipino ingenuity and community spirit.
The campaign, devised by BBDO Guerrero, is designed to spread support for the grassroots solar lighting campaign in The Philippines and beyond. Pepsi has helped My Shelter Foundation gather worldwide support for ‘Liter of Light’. Alongside digital efforts to bring in more donations, they’ve also rallied volunteers to help reach more communities—currently around 20,000 solar bottle lights are being installed.
Solar Bottle Lights provide an ingenious, minimal-cost, carbon-free lighting solution for low-income communities. Discarded plastic soft-drink bottles are filled with water and a small amount of bleach. The bottle then refracts the sun’s rays to produce daytime lighting equivalent to a 55W electric bulb.
The campaign has also been recognized within PepsiCo’s global organization for its compelling communications.
The Agency were also given gold awards for the Pepsi campaign and Pizza Hut’s “Juan Time” New Year event, as well as further recognition for Bayer Philippines’ Saridon TV campaign, WWF, the Department of Tourism “It’s More Fun…” and NUJP’s press campaign in the course of the Busan festival, thus garnering more awards than any other Philippine agency.
