RP honors Obama with special sports shoesPosted on January 21st, 2009 under Uncategorized
The Philippines leading sportswear brand Accel is honoring the first ever African-American U-S President with a limited edition sports shoes.
Known as the Accel Obama sports shoes, the footwear bears the image of Barack Obama, America’s 44th President.
Sporteum Philippines president Willie Ortiz hopes to present to Mr Obama, the limited edition shoes very soon at the Oval Office of the White House in Washington, DC.
“As a tribute to Mr. Obama, we thought of designing a shoe with his image,” said Ortiz.
“A great number of Filipinos were truly elated with the election of Mr. Obama because he belongs to a minority group just like Filipino-Americans in the US,” added Ortiz.
Also called “D’ Shoe,” the Obama sports footwear comes in two colors (pristine white and in black, red and white combination design) with the image of Obama printed on the side near the ankles.
Only 180 pairs of white and 180 pairs of the red Obama shoes will be manufactured for this very special occasion. The shoes will be available from size 7 to size 12, and will only come in men’s sizes.
The shoes will only be sold in the Philippines and will not be available in the U-S.
“We see this initiative as an expression of admiration and support for the first African-American president of the US,” said Ortiz.
“While this project of ours may connote a commercial agenda, we believe that such move would help foster good relations and camaraderie between Filipinos and Americans,” added Ortiz.
