Tara Illenberger’s “Brutus” won the NETPAC award in the ongoing Louis Vuitton Hawaii International Film Festival (LVHIFF) in a ceremony at the Sheraton Waikiki in Honolulu.

The Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema (NETPAC), an international, non-profit organization of film critics, directors, festival organizers and exhibitors, recognizes exceptional Asian films in several international film festivals, including Berlin, Cannes, Venice Pusan and Hawaii.

Several Filipino films have bagged the NETPAC award in various film festivals, including Aureus Solito’s “Tuli” (Berlin) and Brillante Mendoza’s “Tirador” (Singapore) and “Foster Child” (Brisbane).

Other Filipino films being screened in the LVHIFF include Ron Morales’ “Santa Mesa,” Ellen Ongkeko-Marfil’s “Boses” and the Philippine-US-Iceland co-production “The Amazing Truth About Queen Raquela.”

“Brutus” previously won the Jury Prize for full-length films in this year’s Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival.
